28th May | Potato Head Folk
Syndicate sure has a big week coming up. Not only will they be opening for Flying Lotus soon, the fabled audio-visual collective will also be returning with a highly-anticipated club night at Potato Head Folk this weekend! Yup, just days before their huge link-up with Brainfeeder's legendary founder, the busy crew will be hosting Mr. Carmack and Soulection's Jarreau Vandal under their auspices as well. And in the lead up to that huge event, Syndicate's leading men Kiat & Intriguant have come together to craft this lovely mix us.
Built as a tale of two halves, with Kiat handling the first and Intriguant handling the second, this mix is compelling blend of all the experimental electronic ingredients baked into the collective's sonic DNA. From jazz to bass to grime to hip-hop, Kiat & Intriguant naturally complement each other's selections outstandingly. And if you've ever seen play them DJ together at events big (ZoukOut 2015) or small (Good Times x Dunce) events, you'll already know what a potent pairing these two make. Enjoy their latest tag-team mix, and head down Syndicate's event this Saturday if you're looking for more.

Come 21 May, Saturday, audio-visual collective, Syndicate together with Potato Head Folk, is back with another club night as the official pre-party to the Keong Saik Carnival which happens on the 28th of May. This instalment presents Mr Carmack from Honolulu and Jerreau Vandal from the Soulection crew.
Mr Carmack’s eclectic mix of handclaps and melting beats, with the kind of swing to his percussion that can’t be taught, make a signature to even his most opposed tracks – future-embracing club tracks sit next to lush, delicate soulful tunes – with a shift so subtle it’s unsurprising he’s a multi-instrumentalist playing no short of the French horn, piano, drums, bass, guitar and ukulele. Furthermore, has been taking the instrumental hip-hop world by storm and with featured spots on Los Angeles-based record labels Soulection, Team Supreme and an official release on Mad Decent, he shows no signs of slowing down.
Jarreau Vandal has already shown he has a dynamic sound that can’t be boxed into any one specific scene or genre; he is truly at the forefront of a movement into a new sound space. His remixes are fresh and provide listeners with a truly new take on the originals. As a member of the Los Angeles based collective Soulection, Jarreau Vandal released a groundbreaking white label EP in 2014. As he continues to bridge the gaps between dance music, hip-hop, R&B, and jazz, he is wrapping up his forthcoming EP titled Suburb Superhero, which will see a late 2015 release.
Also showcasing their beats will be local wonderkid FZPZ representing the Phyla and Darker Than Wax camp and Potato Head Folk’s very own Jerls (No Party Here).
The Syndicate residents Kiat and Intriguant will keep the beats and bass program going with visual duty be SSYSTM.
