As part of Singapore's SG50 celebrations, Syndicate has been curated into the Singapore: Inside Out showcase. This international creative showcase features a collection of multi-sensorial experiences designed by the country’s creative talents. Singapore: Inside Out will kick off its tour around the global creative capitals of Beijing (April), followed by London (June) and New York City (September). It will make its homecoming finale in Singapore in November.
From the 24th to the 28th of June 2015, the showcase lands in the UK at Brick Lane Yard, part of the Old Truman Brewery – hailed as East London’s revolutionary arts and media quarter. For five days, Singapore’s young creative talents aim to present their take of the city-state’s creative development and spark new perspectives of the city state as it comes of age in its Golden Jubilee year.
The first set will be conducted by .GIF who strive to make electronic music that combines lush soundscapes with lyrics that are intensely personal and hopefully, meaningful. The second musical set is led by NADA featuring Florence Villeminot from France, blurring the line between fiction and reality by deconstructing popular Malay songs from the past and melding them back together like a newly discovered treasure of long lost tapes that has aged with time. The summer evening closes with Cherry Chan, KIAT and Kidkanevil from UK leading the audience into the era of electronica where languages do not matter, only beats, glitches, rhythm and bass. Through out the showcase, Brandon Tay and FROMPAMM create a bridge between sight & sound with a live backdrop of visual wizardry.
In addition to the show at Brick Lane Yard, NADA and .GIF will also be doing an in-store showcase at Rough Trade on the 26th of June at 12.30pm.
